“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”, said Forest Gump. I guess the same applies when you’re shopping for pre-used items.

The clothes aren’t sold as season collections and they aren’t guaranteed to be available in every color and size. Every decorative item, jewellery or vinyl available is a unique offering. That’s what makes shopping for pre-used stuff so exciting! This uniqueness forces us to think of a present’s recipient very carefully as we want to give them something that truly makes us think of them the minute we see a particular item. What are we trying to tell them by giving them this very gift? Is it a reminder of an unforgettable shared experience or just a simple token of our affections towards a damn fine friend?

I’ve spent many hours wandering around my local charity and vintage shops, trying to get a better understanding of what they have on offer in terms of presents. I have to say I’ve been blown away by the quality and variety of the wonderful products they sell at very reasonable prices. As there is still ample time left until Christmas, I’d like to run some present ideas past you. I’d really love to hear all your comments, both good and bad, so please, don’t be shy!

What would you think if, on Christmas Day, you found one of these gifts wrapped up under the tree with your name on it?

Do you know your best friend’s shoe size? If so, these babies would make an ideal gift for a girl about town. A mere snip at only £15.

For the friend that collects kitchen wear? These colourful glass vases and pestle & mortar would make an excellent pack.
